Sound Discoveries

Phonics & Early Language

From listening to rhymes and noticing sounds to exploring letter–sound links: a playful path towards reading, matched to each child’s stage.

Children exploring picture cards and letter sounds with a teacher

WHY THIS MATTERS

Little experiences.
Meaningful practice.

Listening to sounds, enjoying rhymes and talking about stories are parts of early language and literacy. Linking letters to their sounds is introduced at the appropriate stage, alongside understanding the meaning of stories.

AT PLAY SCHOOL MASTERMIND

Our learning approach

Teacher-guided play makes room for practice, conversation and individual support. Examples for this learning area include:

  • Listen to a rhyme and notice words that sound alike.
  • Talk about a picture and try words beginning with the same sound.
  • Explore letter–sound links and blending when ready.

Activities are adapted to each child’s stage and the current class plan.
